Two of the councillors who lost sets in 2008, Catherine Parsons and Ron Besoff are among the candidates preselected by Labor for this year's elections, to be held in September.
Cr. Pynsent, the party’s candidate for mayor, was defeated in a close vote in 2008 and will again have Mayor Cr. Alison Davey as one of a number of other mayoral candidates.
The Advertiser has confirmed that Councillors Ian Olsen, Rachel Main and Neil Gorman will also be candidates for the city’s top position.
Cr. Dale Troy said he is keeping his options open as is Cr. Cordelia Burcham who added that she will however contest Ward A under the Liberals banner.
Greens councillor James Ryan said he and Cr. Chris Parker have been pre-selected to contest their respective wards, but no decision has been made on the party’s mayoral candidate.
The scenario is that at least six and possibly eight of the 13 sitting councillors could be in the running come next September.
