The Cessnock Planning Panel held its first meeting last Thursday when details about how it will operate were explained.

Mr. Rogers explained how the panel will work giving details of the protocols involved, the procedures of addressing meetings and the order of business.

The panel will meet in public and the aim is to work cooperatively with council. The aim is also to deal with matters at each meeting.

Applications worth $1 million or more and applications worth $100,000 or more that have nor been determined by council in 90 days will also go to the panel.

The meeting attracted four people in the gallery, along with three council officers and was brief with Mr. Rogers moving to defer items on the agenda until the full panel is available on September 23.

Other meeting dates in the near future are October 7 and 14, November 4 and 25 and December 9. Meetings will be notified to the public.
