Cessnock Regional Art Galley’s new director, Virginia Mitchell ’s has invited the community to a fun-filled afternoon at the gallery’s opening on Saturday.
“For family entertainment this Saturday, head on down to the opening day of the gallery at 16 Vincent Street,” Virginia said.
“From 10am onwards, the gallery doors will be open and, weather permitting, face painting, mask making, chalk drawing and a sausage sizzle will be offered to enjoy.”
“This is an historic occasion for Cessnock,” said Virginia.
"Member for Cessnock, Mr. Kerry Hickey will be performing the formal opening duties at an evening function, after the Welcome to Country ceremony.
“We are looking forward very much to showcasing the work of local artists and to start our program of exhibitions and workshops.
“We hope that the communities around Cessnock take advantage of their gallery and drop in often to see what is on and to meet the artists.”
You do not need to be a member of the gallery to enjoy the works and to have fun on Saturday. The gallery will be open every day except Monday from June 6 from 10am to 4pm, except Sunday afternoon till 3pm.
