Members of the public will still be able to keep track of development applications submitted to Cessnock City Council under the new planning approval regime put in place by planning minister Tony Kelly.
Applications will be advertised as previously and council staff will process these applications. Those applications that come under the ambit of the new rules will be reported to the three person panel, not the full council.
These are the development applications worth more than $1 million or those worth more than $100,000 that have not been determined after 90 days.
Planning panel meetings will be open to the public and meetings and applications will be advertised and appear on council’s website.
The pane’s first meeting will be held tomorrow (Thursday) at 4pm in the upstairs ante room, followed by another on September 23 at 3.30pm.
Developers and objectors will still have the opportunity to address the panel.
Inquiries can be made by contacting council’s administration centre on 4993 4100.
