Business chamber president, Rod Doherty, said that at least six people have nominated for the position of mayor at this year’s September council elections. Candidates for Mayor and nominees for the Ward C and D are invited to attend the dinner. Each candidate for Mayor will be given 10 minutes to explain their policies and opinions on what they see as the big issues facing the Cessnock Local Government area over the next four years.
“With the completion of the Hunter Expressway will come exponential growth for the area? We need to be prepared and plan for the growth spurt. Jobs, transport, infrastructure, community safety, and policing are high on the priority list for the Kurri District Business Chamber and it is hoped that the candidates will address some of these issues,” he said.
The dinner starts at 6.30pm and costs $30 a head. The dinner will be followed by the six speakers.
If community members are interested in attending the dinner they can contact Kurri District Business Chamber President, Rod Doherty on 0409 448 191 or email rod@kurrikurri.com before the afternoon of July 5.
