Kurri Nostalgia Festival program announced

27 Jan, 2010 10:20 AM
The Kurri Nostalgia Festival from March 26 to 28 promises another three days of fun an entertainment for locals and the many thousands of visitors who will flock to the town and surrounding district.

Kurri comes alive over this weekend with rock 'n' roll, classic cars, hot rods, entertainment, dances, market stalls, competitions and much more. There’s something for the whole family at this NSW Tourism event which attracted 30,000 people last year.

Saturday, March 27 will feature the ‘superstar’ talent quest for any young up and coming ‘stars’ under 18 years old. There is up to $600 in prize money for the winning entrants. Contestants will be performing on the main stage, giving them great performance experience and benefiting from the input of our qualified judges.

For young and old alike there will be a ‘Famous Fifties’ competition. If you think you’ve got what it takes to be Buddy Holly, Johnny O’Keefe, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley or another 50’s star, then book your spot in the contest.

There is a $1000 prize for the winner, so don’t miss out on this opportunity to dress in style and impress the audience from the main stage.

Another exciting aspect of the Nostalgia festival is the extensive display of classic cars and hot rods. Motoring enthusiasts will love seeing the variety of cars and those of you who own one, cruise on down to be a part of the event on the Saturday, (100 car spaces) or Sunday (400 car spaces). Make sure you book your car in so not to be disappointed.

On Saturday, March 27 the festival showcases its ‘Vegas style’ weddings and anyone is welcome to book in and renew their wedding vows in '50s and '60s style. You will be transported to the main stage via a vintage car and receive your ‘vow renewal certificate’ along with photographs of your special day. Last year a couple requested an official wedding, so as you can see this is a very popular part of the Nostalgia weekend program.

Don’t miss the many ticketed dances taking place at multiple venues throughout Kurri, Abermain and Weston. You can see rock n roll and rockabilly shows for a great price and enjoy the atmosphere and vibe of the '50s and '60s era.

On Sunday the entire main street is blocked off and there are four stages of entertainment, dancing, car displays and a fashion parade.
