Lovedale student Emma Kirk the new Miss Cessnock City

Twenty-year-old Emma Kirk from Lovedale is the new Miss Cessnock City.

Emma was crowned at a glittering gala presentation night at Cessnock Ex-Services Club last by outgoing Miss Cessnock City Claire Chapman.

Emma is attending university where she will gain her teaching degree and was very excited, happy and proud at being chosen as Miss Cessnock City.

Emma said she is looking forward to the year ahead with the various duties associated with the role as well as acting as a good role model for young people in the city.

Nineteen-year-old Phoebe King from Bellbird was named runner-up and Latasha Kembrey, 17, from Cessnock third. Six young women entered the quest and received high praise from the judging panel on how they presented and their care and concerns for their community.

Outgoing Miss Cessnock City, Claire Chapman said had enjoyed her year that provided many great memories including being part of an unusual world record attempt when she was in the cabin of a truck seeking to set a new reversing distance record.

She alos enjoyed her part in the Australia Day ceremony and Carols in the Park.

Mayor of Cessnock, Cr. Alison Davey assisted in the presentation ceremony and praised the entrants for their commitment to enter the quest and said she would be looking to involve Miss Cessnock City in community events.

Warren Parsons was master of ceremonies and as well as introducing items on the evening, also conducted on stage interviews with each of the contestants.

The quest’s major sponsor this year included Harrigan’s Harrington Waters Lodge, Hunter Family Jewellers in Cessnock Plaza, an original major sponsor, once again provided a beautiful watch for the winner while Fuse Gallery in Vincent Street provided a deluxe makeover package.

Mulla Villa Guesthouse at Laguna, another long standing supporters and sponsor of the quest, provided the prize for the runner-up.

The auditorium was presented in magnificent order with the table settings and stage decorated by Dreamtime Weddings and Events.
