Multi-million dollar boost for Cessnock City schools off and running

Nine new libraries and eight new halls are among projects that will be funded through the Federal Government’s Primary Schools for the 21st Century program in the Cessnock Local Government area.

The program, worth just on $43 million will see around 40 projects completed in 26 schools. In addition to the libraries and halls, the program will also see work start on eight covered outdoor learning areas (COLAs) and 14 new classrooms.

The projects are the schools where the work will take place are:

Abermain, new classroom facilities, $970,000 and new library, $1,030,000.

Bellbird, new hall/COLA, $2,100,000.

Branxton, new library, $950,000 and new classroom facilities, $1,550,000.

Cessnock East, classroom facilities upgrade, $800,000 and new classroom facilities, $1,200,000.

Cessnock, new hall, COLA and canteen, $2,500,000.

Cessnock West, new hall/COLA/canteen, $2,500,000.

Congewai, new library, $250,000.

Ellalong, new classroom facilities, $850,000.

Greta, new hall and COLA, $2,000,000.

Holy Spirit Infants Abermain, refurbishment of student amenities and shade structure and refurbishment of multi-purpose hall, $165,000.

Holy Spirit Primary Kurri, refurbishment of library and associated works $350,000. Refurbishment of amenities and external areas, $200,000.

Kearsley, new library, $850,000.

Kitchener, new classroom facilities, $879,000.

Kurri, new hall/COLA, $2,200,000 and new classroom and SPED facilities, $1,200,000.

Laguna, new library, $250,000.

Millfield, new library, $870,000.

Mulbring, new classroom facilities, $879,000.

Nulkaba, new hall/COLA/canteen, $2,500,000.

Paxton, new library, $850,000.

Pelaw Main, new hall/COLA, $2,000,000.

St. Brigid’s Primary School Branxton, construction of library, $800,000 and multi-purpose hall, $1,000,000.

St. Mary’s Infants School Greta, construction of admin and staff facilities, $550,000 and construction of classrooms, $1,250,000.

St. Patrick’s Primary School Cessnock, refurbishment of library, $660,000 and construction of multi-purpose hall, $1,340,000.

St. Phillip’s Christian College Cessnock, construction of library and eight classrooms, $2,000,000.

Weston, classroom facilities upgrade, $2,000,000.

Wollombi, new COLA, $140,000 and administration upgrade, $110,000.
