A man was to face court last Wednesday charged with the armed robbery at McDonalds Cessnock earlier this month.
About 5.30am on Tuesday, January 17 two men entered the business on Allandale Road, Cessnock, allegedly armed with a knife and a gun. Police will allege the men forced the store’s manager to open two safes and place money in a bag.
The men then left the premises with the cash via a rear door. No-one was injured in the incident.
Strike Force Blumer is led by the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad, with assistance from local area commands in the Hunter and Central Coast regions. It is investigating this and other recent robberies in those areas.
Two men were also to appear in court last Thursday charged over a number of armed robberies in the Hunter region.
About 5.20pm last Wednesday officers attached to Strike Force Monterra executed a search warrant at premises in Prince Street, at Bellbird. A 34-year-old man was arrested and later charged with robbery whilst armed with an offensive weapon. He was refused bail to appear at Maitland Local Court the following day.
About 8.35pm last Wednesday a male entered a service station on Cessnock Road at Weston and allegedly threatened a female employee with a knife. He then left the premises with a sum of cash.
About 12.30am last Thursday police arrested a man at premises in Congewai Street, Aberdare. He’s been charged with robbery while armed with an offensive weapon and was refused bail to appear at Maitland Local Court last Thursday.

Service station in Cessnock on January 8, 2012;Hotel in New Lambton on January 8, 2012;Supermarket in Cessnock on January 16, 2012;Supermarket in Kurri on January 21, 2012;Service station in Weston on January 25.A woman has been charged over two alleged armed robberies.
About 5.30am on Saturday, December 31, 2011, two men allegedly forced entry to a café on the Pacific Highway at Ourimbah and threatened two employees, a male and female, with a gun.
The intruders allegedly demanded money before fleeing in a car with a sum of cash and jewellery taken from the woman.
In the second incident, about 5am on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, a 48-year-old store employee was approached by two men as he was preparing to open McDonalds at Cessnock.
It is alleged the employee was threatened with a gun before the offenders forced him inside the restaurant, demanding money from the safe. The men fled in a car with a sum of cash before police were notified. It is alleged the woman was driving the car from the armed robberies.
