A garden and orchard section will be reintroduced to the Cessnock Show program of events after a lengthy absence.
The section gives local backyard gardeners the chance to show off the fruits of their labour and receive recognition for what they have achieved.
The sections include garden and orchard, farm produce and preserves.
A show official, Pat Ptolemy, said it is good news that these sections will be back on the show schedule and this has happened thanks to the generous sponsorship of Waverly Estate Winery.
Waverly Estate, situated on Palmers Lane, Pokolbin, was established in 1989 and specializes in producing aged Hunter Valley wines. Since 1999 Waverly Estate has achieved more than 150 awards and 14 trophies.
Waverly Estate has announced a three-year sponsorship program with the show association. Cellarmaster, Hugh Martin, said: “Waverly Estate is happy to be involved and this is further evidence of our commitment to promote and support the local community.”
Cessnock Show will be held on February 26 and 27. Details of the re-introduced sections can be gained by contacting Mr. Ptolemy on 4990 1229 or collecting entry forms from the caretaker John Crossley at the showground or The Advertiser office.
