The next Secondhand Saturday in the Cessnock LGA will be held in Kurri on Saturday, April 10.
Residents who wish to clear out unwanted household items and electronic waste can visit Kurri Central Park on the corner of Allworth and Coronation Streets between 9am and noon.
"This might be a great school holiday project for your household," said Cessnock City Council's Environment Manager, Michael Alexander.
"It could keep your children entertained for hours – just going through their own belongings and deciding what they don't need anymore."
The last eWaste and Life Cycle collection day in January was extremely successful when Hunter Resource Recovery collected 10,450 kilos of eWaste from 357 vehicles while Life Cycle collected 1159 kilos. It was a great result for the Cessnock LGA with 201 more visitors attending and an additional 2890 kilos of eWaste collected compared with the first collection as well as the 1159 kilos of Life Cycle product. The total collected in three hours was 11,609 kilos
This brings the total material collected over the past three events to in excess of 25 tonnes.
Hunter Resource Recovery, which operates Secondhand Saturday on behalf of council, will accept eWaste such as TVs, DVD and CD players, stereos, microwave ovens, computers, printers, mobile phones, fax machines, kitchen appliances and other portable electrical items like hair dryers and hand tools.
