Sweetwater Action Group may take Huntlee fight back to court

05 Jan, 2011 08:02 AM
Sweetwater Action Group President, Cr. Chris Parker said the group will be seeking detailed legal advice regarding the Huntlee approval announced by the Planning Minister late last month.

“After reading the decision we believe we have grounds to have the court set this decision aside however we will dot our I's and cross our T's and get the full complement of professional advice before we make a commitment to take action,” Cr. Parker said.

He said the Minister for Planning has directly contradicted an ICAC recommendation by declaring a site in the Hunter Valley a State Significant Site and thereby rezoning the land for residential, commercial and industrial development.

“Needless to say we are very concerned that the Minister decision is pretty much the same as that made last time by then Planning Minister Kristina Keneally. We had her decision overturned by the Land and Environment Court and we will be doing our best to overturn this one as well.”
