THE ADVERTISER - NOVEMBER 18, 2009
A Paxton family is in shock about what might have happened after their daughter’s car was hit by an object while driving under The Pinch near Pelton last Saturday night (November 14).
Nineteen-year-old Ellen had just finished a shift as a pizza deliverer in Cessnock and was coming home about 10pm when something hit and shattered the windscreen.
He mother, Diane Freeman, said he daughter had the presence of mind not to swerve and pulled up further along the road near the turn off to Pelton.
She said her distraught daughter phoned and told what had happened and asked them to come out and help. Her father was able to drive the car home after which the called the police who came to investigate.
Mrs. Freeman said according to the firm that repaired the windscreen, this was not the first time something like this has happened there. They also said the subway at Abermain is also somewhere that objects are tossed on vehicles.
Mrs. Freeman said they shudder to think what might have happened and that life could have been lost. She appealed to people to take care while driving there and if they know anything to get in touch with Cessnock Police.
