Ellalong’s Tregenza family has been overwhelmed by the response to their fundraising campaign for the John Hunter Children's Hospital.
Four-year-old Ivy Tregenza has an immune disorder and has spent long stints at the hospital.
“The nurses and staff there are just incredible, and we just wanted to give something back,” said Ivy’s mum, Tiffany.
Mrs. Tregenza set up the “Team Ivy” fundraising page on the Everyday Hero website in March with an initial goal was to raise $5000, which was surpassed within three months.
“It’s amazing – we’re just blown away by the response,” Mrs. Tregenza said.
Mount View High contributed more than $2000, from funds raised on an out-of-uniform day, cake stalls and a pizza lunch on June 30.
Ivy’s sisters, twins Madeline and Imogen, and foster brother AJ Colbran, are all in Year 8 at Mount View.
Ivy and her brother Noah were the guests of honour at the out-of-uniform day and were asked to judge the best dressed.
Cessnock Baptist Church chipped in with $600 and Eagle Boys Cessnock also lent a hand, with $1 from every pizza sold between 4pm and 8pm on June 28.
Team Ivy will continue fundraising until September. Visit www.everydayhero.com.au/team_ivy to make a donation.
