Weston Workers Club celebrates 60th anniversary

Weston Workers Club will come alive on Saturday with two special events in the club’s long history.

Member for Hunter and Defence Minister, Joel Fitzgibbon will officially open major refurbishments to the club, while a dinner for members will mark the club’s 60th anniversary of its registration.

Secretary-manager , Sharon Whyburn, said renovations and extensions worth $1.7 million have been carried out including those to the gaming lounge, dining room, members lounge and bar as well as two deck areas for smokers and a facelift to the auditorium.

Mrs. Whyburn said a very old club has been converted to among the most modern in the Hunter.

The members only dinner will feature comedian Calvin De Grey and The Cruisers while there will be memorabilia give aways through the evening.

Invitations have also been sent out to the club’s life members.
