A woman has been charged over two alleged armed robberies - one in Cessnock - in the past month.
About 5.30am on December 31, 2011, two men allegedly forced entry to a café on the Pacific Highway at Ourimbah and threatened two employees, a male and female, with a gun.
The intruders allegedly demanded money before fleeing in a car with a sum of cash and jewellery taken from the woman.
In the second incident, about 5am on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, a 48-year-old store employee was approached by two men as he was preparing to open a fast food restaurant on Allandale Road at Cessnock.
It’s alleged the employee was threatened with a gun before the offenders forced him inside the restaurant, demanding money from the safe. The men fled in a car with a sum of cash before police were notified.
It is alleged the woman was driving the car from the armed robberies.
Detectives attached to Strike Force Blumer – comprising officers from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad and Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command – have been investigating both alleged incidents.
Following inquiries, a 21-year-old woman was arrested by Strike Force detectives at Wyong Police Station yesterday. She was subsequently charged with two counts of robbery whilst armed with a dangerous weapon and bailed to appear at Wyong Local Court on February 8, 2012.
