Weston Workers Bears Football Club held a successful presentation night last Saturday evening in front of 250-plus people.
The gathering at Weston Workers Club saw both teams and individuals rewarded for their efforts.
Michael Holt, who earned selection in the Northern NSW representative team, was the major winner.
He was named Player of the Year as well as the newly awarded Supporters Club award for the most consistent player in girst grade.
Steven Thomson, who as former player and current coach, was awarded the Neville Ridley Memorial club person of the year.
He is in his fifth year as a Bears coach and is also involved with the preparation of the playing ground at Thomas and Coffey Park. It is certainly recognition for a lot of hard work and joins a long list of previous winners with a long club history.
The Advertiser’s Bruce Wilson was presented with a framed coaching clinic shirt for the paper’s support celebrating its 20th year. The Advertiser and United Mineworkers have been on board since day one.
Carl Thornton was named Advertiser Player of the Year and joins some of Bears greats as previous winners.
