Kurri-based aerobics school TC Sport Aerobics is off to nationals after success at the Federation of International Sports Aerobics and Fitness (FISAF) State Championships.
Jazmin Donoghoe won the junior female singles division with her routine to Gabriella Cilmi’s “On A Mission”, to qualify for the national competition, which will be held in Sydney on September 11 and 12.
Performing to “Holding Out For A Hero”, Jillian Hugo placed second in the youth section and Jessica Heath was third in minis with her “Tik-Tok” routine. They will join Jazmin at the nationals.
Jessica backed up from singles to perform along side Brittany Wilkins and Jodie Foster-Harding in the mini sport aerobics division. The trio placed second and qualified for nationals with their routine to “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”.
The TC Sport Aerobics hip-hop team, comprising Jazmin, Jillian, Maddie McVea, Tegan Gillard, Aimee Shearer and Indigo Ryan, also made it to nationals after they placed second.
The team had placed second at the NSW School Aerobics team the month before, but only first place was taken to nationals in that division of the competition.
Maddie and Indigo, along with Olivia Cowell, were in the youth sport aerobics team that placed third at State with their “Venus” routine, and will also compete at the FISAF nationals.
The girls train twice a week with coach Tara Cootes, who is a former member of the multi award-winning Jewells Primary School aerobics team.
