KURRI WOMEN

Thursday’s winners Sue, McGuinness and Isabel Johns, runners-up, Carmel Weston and Sue Burg. The next meeting will be held on November 12. Thanks to all involved in the breast cancer fundraiser. A great day was had by all.

CESSNOCK CITY WOMEN

Program: Social bowls names by 9am for a 9.30am start. Entries for pennants are on the board and close November 6. Play starts on March 9. Entries district gala close November 6 and the game will be held on November 19 at Beresfield. Invitation day will be held Tuesday, November 10, morning tea at 9am, play 9.30am. There will be a trading table and tombala, raffle and 100 club. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 11 after bowls. Last week’s social winners were K. Saunders, H. Condran and F. Orchard, runners-up E. Orr, V. Lane and I. Wilson, consolation won by V. Manderson and E. Johns. S. Austen won the novelty. For all information check the board.

The inaugural golf/bowls day played on Sunday was a great success. A large number of participants wanted to know if they could have them more often. The winners in the three person golf ambrose were M. Hill, R. Hill and F. Howard with runners-up R. Lambley, R. Higginbottom and D. Dunn. The winners in bowls were A. Scott, L. Scott and R. Small with runners up, S. Stewart, J. Victor and D. Ling.

The executive of the Oaks Bowls Club would like to thank all the sponsors who donated prizes for the events.

The Wednesday men’s bowls Christmas Party will be held after the games on Wednesday, November 4. The cost is $10 per person.

Players please note: The greens will be going down for repairs on Thursday, November 12 and anyone who can help with some of the work please be at the greens on Thursday morning. The Bellbird bowling Club has once again made their green available to club members. Please support their club. It will also give our players an opportunity to practice on a different type of surface for the pennants starting early next year.

Night winners were G. Collins, J. Wilson and W. Radoll. Saturday’s winners were H. Condran, G. Jurd and R. Gellwiler with second going to J. Uno, D. Corcoran and P. Davies. Program: Wednesday men’s OTB at 2pm; Friday men’s OTB at 9.30am and mixed OTB at 5pm; Saturday, mixed mufti at 1pm.

HUNTER DISTRICT WOMEN

The Hunter River District “Marsh Fours 2009” was played at Maitland Park with 24 teams taking part in this annual event. As usual, the two game winners played to the yard stick to find the overall winners and the runners up.

Winners were Chris Evans (s), Sue Aurisch, Viv Chapple and Elaine Beattie of Kurri. Runners-u Pam Walcom (s), Val Trees, Wendy Page and Yvonne Midwinter of Singleton. HRD President Wanda Bedford presented the winners the trophy which will be held by Kurri for the ensuing year. Both teams received monetary awards in acknowledgment of their achievements.

Reminders. Entries are required on or before the district meeting on Friday for the following: HRD Gala which will be held at Beresfield on Thursday, November 19 and the two events for 2010, the State Pennants and Fours (District level).
