HUNTER RIVER DISTRICT WOMEN
On Friday, August 23 HRD President Wanda Bedford and HRD Secretary Wilma Reynolds presented the cheques of $1200 each to the representatives of the following four charities: Marj Wotherspoon – Hunter Prelude, Michael Melia – Camp Quality, Adam Tyrrell – Westpac Helicopter and Deb Wells – Maitland Palliative Care. The occasion was attended by Telarah WBC President Mary Ross, HRD Executives, Charity Rep and friends. Big thanks to the following hard working Maitland Women’s Bowls Charity Committee: President Yvonne Hissey, Secretary Wendy Foster, Treasurer Sheila Eckford, VPs Heather Yates and Betty Lawler, and all the committee members (for making it possible to fundraise the annual donation to all the above charities and the food served before the presentation). A special thanks to all the clubs and lawn bowlers and regular sponsors for donating the annual Charity Bowls competition top 3 teams prize money, raffles, tombolas, trading tables and spiders. Good luck to all the 22 teams playing the HRD annual competition ‘Marsh Fours’ to be played at Kurri on Friday, August 30. Metro vs Country sides was played over two days (August 24 and 25) at Port City BC. Final score: Country side 310 shots (2 tests) defeated Metro side 290 shots (1 test).
