The Kurri Alfabs Bulldogs went down 26-12 against reigning premiers Wests in the opening round of the Real NRL competition at Sylvester Real Estate ground on Saturday.

After an opening penalty Wests went ahead 6-0 only five minutes into the game.
Most of the first half was a forward-dominated game with Brendan Worth and Hayden Jeans strong for the Bulldogs.
Two further tries to Wests’ backs left the half-time score 16-0.
Still in the game at half time, Kurri started the second half similar to the first when a penalty put Wests on the attack in the second set and they scored to lead 22-0.
The Bulldogs lifted and a ball inside from Daniel Abraham to Neenan Simpson opened up the defence and put Hayden Jeans over underneath the posts.
For the rest of the half, every opportunity from the Bulldogs to have a second set of six at Wests was lost when they dropped a number of balls on early tackles and were unable to mount serious pressure.
With a couple of minutes left Wests scored out wide to stretch the score to 26-6.
From the restart of play with only 20 seconds left, the Wests fullback caught the ball, bounced it intentionally and was penalised.
Daniel Abraham walked up took the tap and barged over to bring the final score up to 26-12.
Strong performances from the Bulldogs included Brendan Worth, Mitch Cullen and Neenan Simpson at fullback, who was their most dangerous player.
Reserve grade went down 44-18, Under-23s down 32-0, and the under-18s were the highlight of the day winning 18-4, with tries to Nic Scott and Kyle Smith. One of Scott’s was a brilliant solo effort from 60 metres out.
The Bulldogs back up quickly to play Maitland on Thursday night at home with the under-23s kicking off around 5.30pm and first grade at 8.30pm.
The under-6s had enjoyable day where they walked out with the first grade side and played at half time.
