Heavy traffic northbound on the Princes Highway is causing delays of up to 40 minutes for those returning to Sydney from long weekend holidays on the south coast.

However, while NSW Traffic Management Centre spokeswoman Nicquie Sinclair said were delays on the Princes Highway at Batemans Bay, no traffic disruptions had been reported on roads between Canberra and the south coast.
Ms Sinclair reported delays of up to 20 minutes northbound on the Princes Highway near Nowra with traffic queued for close to 4 kilometres.
Queues of 6 kilometres were reported northbound near Berry with motorists warned to allow an additional 40 minutes travelling northbound.
Other delays on the Princes Highway are reported at Batemans Bay, Ulladulla, the Kiama Heads and Albion Park Rail.
NRMA board member of south coast NSW and ACT Alan Evans said the number of drivers on the Kings Highway could quadruple during long weekends such as Easter and Christmas.
"It's one of the worst roads in NSW," he said. "It's better to be cautious and careful than taking a risk."
His advice to ACT motorists taking the Kings Highway to the coast this Easter was to drive steady.
"If I could I'd like to stop every motorist who's leaving Canberra or Batemans Bay and just say 'Are you sober?', 'You haven't taken drugs?', 'Is everyone belted in?' and 'Take it easy'," he said.
