Cessnock Wine Country Rotary Club distributed $5000 in donations from its community fund at its recent changeover dinner held at Cessnock Leagues Club.

The major donation was $3000 was to the Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI), with $1000 to Hunter Valley Special Olympics, and $250 to the Rotary district appeal of Roadwhyz. A donation earlier in the year of $750 went to Cessnock Relay for Life.
The function also saw $1025 presented to Children’s Medical Research Institute from the annual appeal conducted by the club.
CMRI community relations manager, Jennifer Philps attended the dinner and gave an outline of a number of exciting research works being carried out there.
Cessnock Wine Country Rotary Club has been conducting the donor appeal for the past 12 years while the donor appeal, launched by Cessnock Quota Club, celebrated its 51st anniversary.
The club also conferred honorary membership to Ms. Philips who has been visiting the club in her role with the CMRI for the past 12 years.
Cessnock auto electrician, Noel Sugui is the new president, while the changeover also saw a new member, Paul Hocking inducted. Canadian visitors Don and Merrilyn Parker from Alberta, also attended the dinner.
