Hunter Valley operators have once again succeeded at the Hunter Central Coast Awards for Excellence in Tourism, held at Wests New Lambton last Wednesday.

Wollombi luxury accommodation Somewhere Unique was inducted into the Hall of Fame after winning gold in the Unique Accommodation category for three consecutive years.
Margan Wines received three gold awards, taking out the QANTAS award for excellence in sustainable tourism, along with the excellence in food tourism and tourism wineries, distilleries and breweries categories.
Chateau Elan at The Vintage picked up two gold awards, in the business tourism and luxury accommodation sections.
Other gold winners included Snow Time in the Garden, Hunter Valley Gardens (festivals and events) and Golden Door Health Retreat and Spa Elysia (unique accommodation).
Silver winners included Convict Footprints on the Old Great North Road, NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (festivals and events); Bimbadgen (tourism wineries, distilleries and breweries) and Hermitage Lodge (hosted accommodation).
The Sebel Kirkton Park Hunter Valley received a bronze award in the unique accommodation category, while highly commended awards went to Beyond Ballooning (adventure tourism), Casa La Vina (unique accommodation) and The Vintry (deluxe accommodation).
The chair of judges, Dr. Tamara Young congratulated all of the finalists.
“We are pleased to witness the broad scope of excellence in the Hunter and Central Coast regions,” she said.
“The outstanding quality of the submissions is testament to the commitment of our finalists to the delivery of high quality tourism products and services, as well as their dedication to high standards of professionalism in the tourism industry.”
Visitor Economy Hunter’s director Roger Stephan said the awards showed the strength and growing diversity of tourism in the Hunter and Central Coast.
“Given the quality of entries received achieving finalist status is in itself a great achievement,” he said.
“All the businesses and individuals honoured on the night – especially the category winners – can be truly proud of their contribution and industry standing.”
Gold award winners will now go on to become finalists in the 25th Annual State Tourism Awards to be held in Sydney on November 27.
