Held on the Gold Coast on August 9, the four young angels performed the routine of their life to be crowned national champions in the ‘Future Legends’ division.
Consisting of Year 3 students Madison Jurd, Ayva Harrison, Mali Barr and Cooper Williams, the team was only formed at the beginning of the year and this was the first competition season for most of the girls.
After progressing through the preliminary championships and then placing second at the state titles, the girls were then invited to perform at the national championships where they performed their best routine to date.
In the lead up they were training up to three times a week with coaches Carly Forster, Bree Mayo and Lisa Cousins, including during their lunch breaks at school.
But all the hard work paid off when it came time to the national competition, with their
‘Footloose’ routine showing off their strength, coordination and synchronicity to beat out five other teams from around Australia.
All best friends, Cooper said that the best thing about aerobics is having fun with friends and that the girls always have a good time at competitions.
They are now training for the Spring Challenge which will be held in November.
