The Dunstan boys – Fabian (25), Zeb (19) and Arch (17) – all played in reserve grade against Macquarie on August 2.
The boys who have all came through the Cessnock junior system have black and gold flowing through their veins.
Their father Steve (‘the Swede’) came to Cessnock from New Zealand as a player in the early 1980s and has had an extensive playing and coaching career – at present he is the coach of the finals-bound under-23s team as well as being the club conditioner.
But their league heritage goes back even further on their mother Mandy’s side.
Mandy’s father Daryl McKendry was a long-serving player for the Goannas in the 1960s and her brother David had a successful career in the ‘70s and ‘80s.
The boys’ cousin Jacob McKendry is presently having an outstanding season in the Goannas’ first grade team.
Mandy is also a strapper and first aid officer with the club as well as being a life member of the Cessnock Minor Rugby League.
“The Goannas have been fortunate to have the services of such long-serving families at the club and it is hoped they will be around for many seasons to come,” Goannas president David Woodbury said.
