Police are appealing for information after a man was injured during a home invasion near Cessnock on Tuesday night.

About 8pm Tuesday (August 19), two men armed with a metal rod and bat entered a home on Pyne Way (near Bimbadeen) and confronted the two occupants, a 51-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman.
Police have been told the pair started hitting the male occupant on the head with their weapons.
They allegedly stole cash from the home before leaving.
Police from Central Hunter Local Area Command were called to the house and established a crime scene.
The 51-year-old man was taken by ambulance paramedics to Cessnock Hospital with head and hand injuries. He was later flown to John Hunter Hospital, where he’s reported to be in a stable condition.
Detectives would now like to speak with two men who may be able to assist with inquiries.
One of the men has been described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance with a large build. The other man has been described as being of Caucasian appearance and tall.
