Flying Ferret has been nominated to race at Warwick Farm on Wednesday, though Dale is unsure whether a start at Wagga the following Tuesday would be more appropriate.

"I've only had the horse for a week," Dale said. "I've got him at Warwick Farm, but we're still in two minds on whether he'll go to Warwick Farm or he'll go to the next meeting at Wagga."

Dale said that he will likely make a decision on Monday.

Flying Ferret's co-owner and former trainer, Russell Osborne, decided to send his galloper from his Melbourne-based stables to be trained under Dale in Canberra.

Osborne believed that the Redente gelding was not suited to the tracks around Melbourne following his first two career runs.

Flying Ferret stepped out on debut in a mid-week race for two-year-olds at Caulfield, before backing up 11 days later at Seymour, and was comfortably held by the winner on each occasion.

Osborne then sent Flying Ferret north to Albury and the three-year-old led the field onto the straight and toughed it out to score his maiden win by a length.

"[Osborne] wanted to get him off the tracks out Melbourne way, so he took him to Albury the other day where he went much better and won," Dale said. "Then he decided to send him up to me to be trained and have him race up Sydney way."

Dale is excited at his stable's newest addition, but is not putting too much pressure on Flying Ferret for the remainder of this campaign.

"We're still learning about him and I think you'll see the best out of him next preparation," Dale said.

"He's a big, strong horse and obviously has a good amount of ability, and looks to be an improving type."
