The number of murals has now grown to 55, with three new murals added in the last year and more being planned.
“Spring is a great time to take a mural tour and we have some special offers for tours booked during September, so you will notice more people in town for mural tours as the weather warms up,” community projects manager Lesley Morris said.
“When we book mural tours we also encourage them to have lunch locally and spend some time having a look around the area.”
The main event will be ‘Art in the Park’, which will take place in Rotary Park on Saturday, September 13.
Organised by Towns With Heart, it will include free art workshops, children’s craft activities, free entertainment, free face painting for the kids and a display of vintage vehicles.
Art In the Park will be held in conjunction with the monthly community markets, so there will also be a variety of local art, craft, fresh produce and market goods for sale.
The winners of the Mural Month primary school colouring-in competition and the high school street banner design competition will be announced on the day.
Local artist Peter Sesselmann has once again designed the colouring-in entry form and Kurri Tidy Towns will present prizes in four different age categories. Rover Coaches are presenting prizes in the banner design competition, in which high school students will come up with their own designs for banners for the street poles in Victoria Street.
There will also be mural-themed trivia night at Kurri Workers Club this Saturday at 7pm.
