On Thursday and Friday, students from Cessnock and Mount View High Schools walked around the Cessnock CBD, selling Legacy badges.
Branch president Max Lewis said that they raised just under $5000, contributing to more than $1000 raised by badge sales made in the Pokolbin area.
Mr. Lewis said that this was a great result and a testament to the students’ hard work.
“The kids love doing it,” he said.
“They make a competition out of who can make the most money because we send them off in pairs.
“It is a great incentive and we present them with a certificate of appreciation afterwards which they can add to their resume.”
All of the funds raised will go towards supporting war widows and children living in the Hunter, including Cessnock, Kurri and Maitland areas.
