This will be the first musical for the school in three years, and principal Todd Osland said that that the kids couldn’t be more excited.
“The kids have been studying older literature, including Oliver, so we saw the musical as a great opportunity to expand on their learning,” he said.
“They get a lot out of the classical literature and we want the creative arts to be a big part of what we do here as a school.”
The musical will feature students from the entire school, with principal character determined after a series of auditions in term two.
The colourful costumes have been carefully made by the school’s parents and include old time London Bobby uniforms and of course the stylish streetwear of Oliver himself – a lot of which have been sourced from local op shops.
Mr. Osland said that he hopes that Oliver will launch what will become an annual musical event for the school.
The show will also be a chance for the school to test out its new lighting and sound system.
The first performance will take place on Wednesday, September 17 (12.30-2pm approximately) and then again on Thursday, September 18 (6pm-7.30pm approximately).
Tickets are available at the school’s reception for $5 and all are welcome to attend – call 4990 2974 for more information.
