Although the patients palliative care nurse Fiona McLeod cares for are terminally ill, the environment she works in is brighter than people might expect, she says. In fact, adds McLeod, using a sense of humour in her line of nursing goes a long way. It enables her to build-much needed rapport with the patients she supports, which can be a boon for patient morale.
