Clough was replaced by former Australian representative Beth Quinlan, who joins incumbent national selectors Kelvin Kerkow OAM and David Stockham and national coach Steve Glasson on the panel.
Glasson said he was indebted to Clough for the service he has provided to the sport.
“Sam has been instrumental in selecting the players charged with international action, and played no small part in the highly successful World Championships campaign in 2012 – where Australia claimed five gold and two silver medals from eight events,” he said.
Quinlan was one of Clough’s selections for national representation in 2010.
“Beth is from the powerful St. Johns Park Club, an excellent person and will be strong at the selection. I could not think of a better successor,” Clough said.
“After almost five years with the BA Selection panel I leave with head high, knowing my deliberations have always been 100 per cent Australia-orientated and in the promotion of our wonderful sport of lawn bowls.”
Clough will continue to maintain the Bowls Australia ranking system, and has also been asked to consider another role in historical records, but is also looking forward to having a bit more time at home, after 100 days a year away.
