Len Pro Building won the Home of the Year award at the HIA-CSR Hunter Housing and Kitchen and Bathroom Awards.
The View Street home took out the renovation/addition project ($250,001-$400,000) category before being announced the overall winner.
It was the first time in recent years that the Home of the Year winner came from outside the custom-built home category, beating projects that were priced in the millions.
The judges said the winning home was “head and shoulders above all the finalists”, with magical workmanship and incredible attention to detail.
HIA-CSR Hunter executive director Craig Jennion said HIA is delighted with the exceptional quality of entries and level of competition this year.
“All winners and finalists should be proud to have reached the pinnacle of building standards demonstrated in these entrants,” he said.
Len Pro Building director Lance Lennard said he was thrilled with the judges’ feedback, as the heritage restoration was quite a different project to their usual builds.
Mr. Lennard said the house is a credit to his team’s hard work and determination.
“I’m extremely proud of my team and look forward to continuing to produce quality work for all of my clients to allow them to achieve their dream homes,” he said.
Mr. Lennard thanked all of the other trades that were contracted in to complete the project and the many suppliers; and acknowledged the home’s owner, Cain Beckett, for allowing his team to complete his “dream home” and enter into the awards.
Len Pro Building is now in the running for a national title at the HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards in May 2015.
