Only four local riders are in the elite group including Cessnock’s own Josh McDonald.
McDonald has competed at the Kurri venue throughout the autumn-winter period with his ‘never leave anything in the kit bag’ determination resulted in a mixed season of success and crashes.
When McDonald combines the right head space with his riding skills together, he is a formidable opponent.
However, he will need to be ultra-consistent if he is going to be on this Saturday’s championship podium.
Jye Etheridge (Buttai), Josh Pickering (Heddon Greta) and Karl Lawler (Maitland) are the other three Hunter riders vying for championship honours.
All three competed through the autumn-winter racing schedule at Kurri and Etheridge capped off a very successful season finishing as top point scorer and claiming the 2014 Kurri Speedway Club Championship.
However eyes will also be focused on Brady Kurtz (Cowra) and Max Fricke (Victoria) as they return to Kurri Speedway fresh from their respective highly successful season in the 2014 British Premier League Speedway competition.
The 2014 NSW State Under-21 Speedway Solo Champ-ionship will be supported by the 2014 NSW State Junior 250cc Speedway Solo Championship.
It will be the start of the night time season of speedway racing at Kurri Speedway. Racing starts at 6.30pm.
