The selection follows on from the 15-year-old’s success in this year’s competition, where she represented at NSW in the national final in Queensland and was placed in the top nine teens by winning the Model Potential award. 

Ruby said that the quest was a great experience to be a part of.

“I really enjoy being a part of Galaxy,” she said.

“I had a fantastic time at the three-day nationals with a great group of girls who are all focused on supporting and promoting their local communities as well as raising funds for Australian charities, which is why I wanted to be part of it again in 2015.”

As part of the competition contestants are invited to raise funds for Make A Wish Australia and or Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors and one of the most exciting parts of the competition is to see how much goes into fundraising. 

Last year all the Galaxy girls raised more than $120,000 for these charities. 

“I am busily planning a few fun events over the next few months and currently running home baked shortbread drives which have already been quite popular,” Ruby said.

“I am now looking forward to promoting Christmas packs which will be available throughout November until Christmas. 

“These cute little Christmas packs are a lovely home-baked gift for friends, family, teachers and were so popular last year that they helped me raise almost $800 for Make a Wish Australia.”

Ruby said that she is also keen to support the local area and would be available to speak to any local businesses regarding appearances and assistance with any events to help promote the local community as an Australia Galaxy and fundraising representative.

Ruby said that she also fundraises for Down Syndrome NSW to help support kids like her brother Mack.

“My little brother has Down syndrome and I am so proud of him and his ability to make people smile, he brightens everyone’s day,” she said.

“I have through him had the chance to see just how amazing people with Down syndrome are and have also seen firsthand how much Make A Wish Australia can make a difference in the lives of children and their families who are dealing with life-threatening illness so I am proud to be able to help.”
