The fire ban will commence at midnight on Thursday, with a severe fire danger in place for the Greater Hunter region.
Weatherzone is predicting a top of 38 degrees on Friday, with the temperature set to swelter over the weekend including a possible 42 degree maximum on Sunday.
It certainly was a scorcher last Friday (November 14) with the temperature reaching a blistering maximum of 39.5 degrees.
Multiple fire crews responded to a one-and-a-half hectare grass fire in Kurri near the railway line at Mitchell Avenue and Railway Parade that broke out at approximately 4.45pm.
Under sever conditions the RFS reminds people to well prepare their homes and to follow their Bush Fire Survival Plan.
