Ms. Rhiannon will be the guest speaker at the Cessnock Greens end of year picnic at Bow Wow Gorge in Quorrobolong and will speak on animal welfare and Australia’s latest military involvement in the Middle East.
Senator Rhiannon was a Greens MP in the NSW Upper House from 1999 -2010, actively pursuing reform in areas like the environment, public education, transport and industrial relations.
Before working with the Greens, she co-founded and spent five years as director of AID/WATCH which scrutinises Australia’s overseas aid program.
She was co-ordinator of the NSW coalition for gun control and member of the NSW government’s Women’s Advisory Council. She also trained as a zoologist and botanist.
Ms. Rhiannon is currently the Greens’ animal rights spokesperson and together with her Greens colleagues, is working hard towards an end to the live export trade.
