The 11-year-old who is certified as legally blind will be representing NSW as a para-athlete in the 100 metre sprint event.
Tyson was able to qualify for the state championships after his running times excelled at the local zone carnival in Thornton earlier this year.
He then competed in the NSW PSSA athletics championships which were held at Homebush on October 15 and 16.
The young runner competed in four events and recorded an excellent time in his final event that qualified him for the NSW track and field team.
The national track and athletics carnival will be held in Penguin, Tasmania commencing on Thursday November 27 until wrap up on Monday, December 1.
Tyson said that he is excited for the competition and to travel to Tasmania.
He will be joining the ranks of fellow para-athletes from Weston, including Paralympian swimmer Stewart Pike, who also attended the school.
