This year’s event will mark the quests 24th anniversary, with current Miss Cessnock City Allyra Robson ready to hand over her crown to one of the five entrants.
Once again there is an amazing list of prizes on offer, including prizes from Historic Guest House Mulla Villa and Hunter Family Jewellers, who have been with the competition since inception.
The Cessnock Ex-Services Club will also once again be providing the fantastic venue.
Prizes for first place include a night at the Historic Guest House Mulla Villa, a $100 gift voucher from Hunter Family Jewellers, a photography package from Linda Hinton Photography, dinner for two at the Chelmsford Hotel Kurri, a gift pack from hair salon Lauratopia donated by former Miss Cessnock City Laura Johnson (nee Hawkins), a $300 accommodation voucher at Ashmore Palms on the Gold Coast, a Keune gift pack (valued at $80) as well as a full colour/foils cut, blow-dry at La Bella Hair Studio.
The runner-up will also receive a $50 Hunter Family Jewellers gift voucher and Keune gift pack valued at $80 from La Bella Hair Studio. The winner and runner-up will also receive flowers by local florist Beautiful Blooms Kurri.
All entrants will receive a gift pack and Bellbird based business Unique Design of Elegance are once again providing the decorations for the club’s auditorium.
A large proportion of the judging for the quest comes from the interviews which took place on Monday night, with the on stage interviews and catwalk appearances on Thursday night making up the rest of the scoring.
Master of Ceremonies will once again be the talented Warren Parsons who will conduct on-stage interviews with each entrant.
Maxine Chapman
Nulkaba’s Maxine Chapman is 17 years old and works at Priceline Pharmacy as a pharmacy assistant. Maxine would love to visit France because it is a beautiful, romantic place that she has dreamed about from a young age.
She said her family and her aspire to travel there as a tribute to her great nanna who passed away two years ago.
If she was isolated on an island, Maxine would take food, her mobile and her partner, Nathan for protection, company and to catch food for her.
Her plans for the next five years are to have completed a Bachelor of Primary Teaching, have full-time employment as a teacher and to have written and recorded an album.
Kylie Brook
Cessnock’s Kylie Brook is 20 years old and works as a heavy diesel mechanic.
The colour that best describes her is yellow as she is a very bright and bubbly person who is always smiling and willing to shine.
Kylie said that if she could invite any four people to dinner it would be her mum, dad and two brothers as ever since moving out of home and always having such older brothers, there is nothing she loves more in this world than family bonding time.
She would love to travel to Ethiopia to help young poor families and her special interests include water sports, aerobics, travelling and sharks.
Her ambitions for the next 12 months are to be almost finished her apprenticeship, and have started studying in engineering or OH&S training.
Madelene Hansen
Madelene Hansen from Cessnock is 18 years old and in the next 12 months would like to progress in her job at ANZ Maitland and achieve the rank of Cadet Warrant Officer in the Airforce Cadets.
If she could meet any historical figure, she would most like to meet Nelson Mandela because he forgave others who hurt him the most and he refused his freedom to benefit the freedom of others.
Her plans for the next two years are to have saved enough for a deposit on a house, progress into staff at Air Force Cadets and continue to mentor young adults.
Madelene’s three wishes from a magic genie would be to end poverty, bring peace to the Middle East and set up her family for life.
She likes horses, shopping and volunteering and dislikes animal cruelty, bad manners and closed minds.
Jazmin Earl
Jazmin Earl is 17 years old and is currently living in Weston. If Jazmin could meet any historical figure, she would like to meet Albert Einstein because when he was in primary school a teacher said he was the dumbest kid she had ever taught but he sure proved her wrong.
She admires the person he was.
Jazmin’s special interests are performing for community events and getting to teach singing and dancing to younger kids.
She would love to go back to Cambodia to volunteer in the floating village orphanage and school because the children there have always got a smile on their face.
Jazmin’s favourite food is strawberries and she admires Delma Whyte, because she has taught her so much over the years and she admires her because she does so much for the Cessnock Community and offers a helping hand to everyone.
Cassandra Battle
Cassandra Battle is 22 years old from Weston and works in advertising as a consultant.
Her plans for the next two years are to travel to at least two continents and master a new skill.
Though for the next 12 months she plans to keep living independent, working fulltime in her chosen profession and to become completely happy and confident within herself as a person.
Other than her family, Cassandra most admires Rosa Parks because of her bravery and because she paved the way for not only African-Americans but women also.
She likes socialising, dogs and long drives and dislikes discrimination of any kind, mushrooms and ‘screamo’ music.
