In order to show their festive spirit, Kurri High School’s Student Representative Council (SRC) has set up their very own giving tree.

The Kurri Giving Tree will support local teenagers with all gifts going to the Kurri Youth Centre.
The SRC suggested gifts should be given to students in the local community that wouldn’t receive anything this Christmas.
“It’s a good way for the school to give to the students who aren’t as fortunate,” Prefect Kali Somerville said.
School Captain, Aden Wyborn added that the community is welcome to come and donate presents and food to the tree.
Year seven coordinator at Kurri Youth Centre, Trudy Adams, said the centre thanks the school and is very grateful for their generosity.
“It’s beneficial for families who can’t afford much this Christmas or children who are from broken homes,” she said.
“It makes them feel like they are a part of something bigger and the community cares about them.”
The SRC is also asking for non-perishable food which will be donated to the Salvation Army Christmas Food Appeal. The giving tree initiative will finish up on December 16 and the school welcomes community members to donate.
