The weight-loss challenge fundraiser has just finished its second year in Cessnock and organiser, Anthony Burke said the challenge has risen over $8000 for the Ronald McDonald House since its inception.
The competition, which kicked off on August 25, ran for 12 weeks and involved three official weigh-ins and three boot camps to encourage participants.
Over the course of the challenge, participants worked hard at their own lifestyle diet and had the opportunity to participate in three charity boot camps which were sponsored by Fit4Life Group and Personal Training and Anytime Fitness, Cessnock.
Last year’s competition saw 85 participants sign up, raising over $5000 for the Ronald McDonald House charity.
Mr. Burke said that over 60 local people joined together this year to choose a healthier lifestyle and raise money for the good cause.
“These bootcamps were a great success and were in a fun and supportive environment,” he said.
The winner for 2014 was Cessnock’s Clint Ekert who lost an amazing 11.39 per cent of his body weight in the 12 weeks.
Mr. Ekert stuck to a strict diet with a Michelle Bridges Program and attended the charity boot camps.
He said he is now determined to continue on his journey.
Over the past two years, Drop Kilos 4 Kids has had many people come into the weight loss challenge with some using the challenge as motivation to keep losing weight and to stay healthy.
Mr. Burke said it is a great motivator to choose a healthier lifestyle and to raise money for something that really supports sick children and their families.
“I thank all who was involved in Drop Kilos 4 Kids 2014 and congratulate Clint on his amazing effort and to everyone who participated.
“I am looking forward to 2015 and growing this challenge to a new level.”
