Cr. Pynsent hoped to visit all of the winning schools before the end of the year, with the first presentation taking place at Kearsley Public School.
The school’s students Cody Probert and Jarrod Hodges took out second and third prize in the kindergarten to year two category with their ‘spring’ inspired shots.
“It’s important for the kids’ peers to see what a fantastic job they’ve done and to publically acknowledge their achievements,” Cr. Pynsent said.
“The kids are the ones who have worked hard for their prize money, so it’s only fitting they should present the cheque to their principal.
“The prize money is awarded to the winning schools, not the winning students.”
Prize money for the 2014 Mayoral Photography Competition was donated by Hope Estate.
