Staff donated items such as children’s toys and non-perishable food for the Samaritans annual Christmas Appeal.
Council’s director corporate and community services Robert Maginnity said he is proud of the effort staff went to in support of the appeal.
“Our staff have taken the initiative to donate these items as their way of helping out those in the community who are less fortunate,” Mr. Maginnity said.
“It’s a nice way to top the year off by spreading some Christmas cheer to families in need.”
Samaritans will allocate and distribute the donations to families and individuals in the local area.

The team at LJ Hooker Cessnock also had an amazing response to their Samaritans Christmas Drive.
After placing a Christmas tree in their front office, the real estate agent encouraged the community to donate gifts.
Mrs. Liz Cooper from the Samaritans accepted the donations shortly before Christmas with enough to help of 20 families in need throughout the Cessnock LGA.
