City brought up the victory in the 83rd over on Sunday afternoon after Kurri-Weston posted 241 off 72 overs on Saturday.
Kerryn Ball top-scored for the Warriors with 66, Simon Marshall returned to form with 48 and Daniel Chapple held the innings together at the top of the order with 38.
Kurri-Weston went to stumps thinking 241 was a competitive total, but felt it was a little under par. This proved to be the case with City eventually passing the total late on Sunday afternoon.
Kurri-Weston bowled well in patches, but were fairly disappointing in the field, coming up with several misfields costing the team valuable runs.
Best with the ball was Mick Heinrich (2-44 off 17), with Zechel and Adams picking up a wicket each.
Second grade scored a tremendous victory against front-runners City United. Kurri-Weston batted first and amassed 240 from 66 overs with Cameron Bates (78), Josh Tuckwell (33), Troy Rees (30) and Dasher Fairfull (32) all contributing to the healthy total.
City was all out on Sunday for 205 after Rees (4-72 off 17), Nick Neild (3-40), Bates (2-38) and Tuckwell (1-47) did the damage with the ball.
This was a great victory for the team, leaving them in the box seat to qualify for the semi-finals and Bates and Tuckwell in particular pushing for first grade selection after good all-round performances.
Third grade lost to Northern Suburbs by six wickets after scoring 143. Sam Perry (45) and Matthias Ogilivie (25) were the main contributors with the bat, but Norths managed to pass the total for the loss of only four wickets.
Fourth grade won their second game on the trot, beating Eastern Suburbs by 13 runs in a close finish. The Plumridge boys Dave (41) and Mick (26) did well along with Keith Barker (31).
Easts could only manage 156 in reply due to some fantastic bowling from Jarrod Bilby (3-30), Will Ruston (2-23) and skipper Fred MacDonald (2-14).
Fifth grade lost to the second placed Thornton Park side by 38 runs, failing to chase down the required 177.
Ben Sharp (54) continued his great recent form and was supported well by Ji Forbes (29) and veteran Darren Vassella (20). Craig Whyburn (3-34), Jed Kinch (1-22) and Sam Whyburn (1-27) all tried hard with the ball.
