Mr. Conroy’s career as an educator started in 1979 at Casino, followed by stints in the Riverina and Quirindi (where he met wife Sandra) before he arrived at Mount View in 1992.
He started at a maths teacher and then became deputy principal in 2002.
Mr. Conroy has seen a lot of changes over the years and said these days, teachers and students have more opportunities than ever, with advances in technology and changes to the structure of learning.
He said he has enjoyed his time at Mount View High and while life as an educator has had its challenges, he never once thought about giving it up.
“On a day-to-day basis, it has been really good school and environment,” he said.
“The range of things you do in a day, particularly as a deputy, is phenomenal.”
Mr. Conroy is now looking forward to a change of pace and spending more time with his family, travelling and playing more golf.
“It’s a new step, it’s almost like a kid leaving Year 12,” he said.
“I won’t be restricted by timetables and bells.”
A farewell dinner for Mr. Conroy will be held at Stonebridge Golf Club on Saturday, May 2, starting at 6.30pm. Anyone interested in attending can contact the school on 4990 2566.
