Kearsley Public School principal Ian Lamph completed a 57-kilometre bicycle ride from Singleton to the school on Friday, March 20 to raise funds for Beyond Blue.

The ride was held in conjunction with Bike Week at the school and Mr. Lamph said he began the fundraiser ride to get the kids active and give them some inspiration.
“We’ve had Bike Week here which involved letting the kids ride around during lunch and recess, bike safety classes and bike safety checks on all bikes. I had already planned to ride from Singleton but thought why not make it into something,” he said.
“The initial aim was $500 for the organisation but the end result was just over $1600. It’s been a mostly community effort with a donation from the Men’s Shed.”
Mr. Lamph said Beyond Blue is working to reduce the impact of anxiety, depression and suicide in the community by raising awareness and understanding, empowering people to seek help, and supporting recovery, management and resilience.
The students of Kearsley Public School had a gold coin donation out of uniform day with a blue theme, while Mr. Lamph was joined by some community members and parents on his ride from Singleton to Kearsley.
