The program called Youth Frontiers needs people who want to make a difference in their community and engage young people.
Youth Frontiers is a NSW Government youth mentoring program that involves students in year 8 or 9 who want to focus on leadership and civic engagement.
“Youth Frontiers will give young people an opportunity to build life skills and self-confidence while working with mentors,” program manager Mara Greenwood said.
“We are looking for up to 16 adults between 18 and 80 to share their knowledge and engage young people.”
The young people involved will build life skills, take on community projects and make a positive difference in their community.
It is a six-month program for Cessnock area students to learn from positive role models.
“The program is all about volunteers and young people working together to strengthen their community.”
Each year the program takes on more than 1200 young people statewide.
Volunteers do not need any special skills, but enthusiasm to help young people reach their potential in life is essential.
Youth Frontiers will starts in term two. Go to www.youthfrontiers.com.au for an application form.
