The free event is celebrating its 10th year and will feature a bike, skate and scooter competition, live bands, art and circus workshops, a laser tag arena and craft tent.
Cessnock City Council’s youth service co-ordinator Will Doran said Youthfest attracts more than 300 people to Kurri Skate Park.
“It has a great festival vibe to it,” Mr. Doran said.
“It is a celebration of youth culture and talent in our area.”
This year’s entertainment will feature Hunter bands The Crispens (Cessnock), Of Divinity, The Fuzz, High Vinyl as well as Port Macquarie locals A Bear in a Man Suit.
Youthfest will run from 11am to 5pm and entry is free. The bike, skate and scooter competition is open to competitors of all skill levels.

Youthfest is a culmination of a week of activities held across Cessnock local government area for Youth Week.
The 2015 Youth Week program has 15 different activities on offer including skate competitions, cupcake decorating, graffiti workshops and a ‘Battle of the Youth Groups’ event (which will take place at Kurri Youth Centre on Saturday).
The events are for young people aged between 12 and 25 years and are organised in consultation with representatives from this age group.
