Two studies are currently being undertaken – a Recreation Needs Analysis and the Cessnock Cycleway Strategy.
An analysis and needs assessment has commenced, with a current audit of the area’s parks, recreation, cycling and sporting facilities.
Cessnock Mayor Bob Pynsent urges the community to get involved in the online surveys to voice their opinion on what their area needs.
“Input from residents is crucial in the planning of these services and facilities,” Cr. Pynsent said.
“The studies will be valuable resources for Council as they will provide clear, realistic and achievable recommendations regarding the future of parks, recreation, cycling and sporting facilities.”
The surveys are open until May 8 and can be viewed at council’s administration building, Cessnock and Kurri libraries, Kurri Aquatic and Fitness Centre and the Hunter Valley Visitor Information Centre and online here.
Further opportunities for input will be available via consultation with sporting clubs and during the exhibition period in the coming months.
